The idea of hiring a professional web designer is not at all new to online marketers. On the contrary, it is something every webmaster considers at some point in their online marketing business especially when they want to set up a professional looking site. The process of designing a website is a detailed one and it involves correct and moderate use of each and every element making up the design in order to come up with a site that is not only balanced in terms of aesthetic appeal and functionality but also professionalism. In addition, the resultant website needs to be unique and have the webmaster’s personal touch that contributes to the branding process. It is thus very vital for the designer and the webmaster to work hand in hand for the process to be successful. In order for the designer to do satisfactory work, there are several things they will need to know from the webmaster.

The first important thing is to give your designer the logo of the site that is to be designed. The logo will help your designer choose a color scheme that is compatible with the logo itself and also with the goals of the site. In addition, it helps determine what elements to include in the design and the intensity with which each element of design will be used to effectively meet the site goals. While the designer may not exactly reproduce the colors in your logo, they will try to use colors that are complementary with the logo in order to produce a quality design.

Content is equally important in designing a site and your designer should be aware of the kind of content you want to publish on your site even before they start working on the design. The truth in web design is that the design should complement the content that is published on the site. Letting the designer in on the content allows them to choose the appropriate elements for the design and also to make important decisions regarding the design. The content influences the architecture and taxonomy of the design and it is much like the material needed to complete the building of the site.

Branding guidelines are also very vital and they need to be communicated to the designer in advance. Branding influences the uniqueness of the site. It basically represents every element of your site that is unique to your particular site and can range from the color scheme to the images used and more importantly how they are used. Branding can never be complete without the logo and the brand name. The web designer working on your site may have built many more sites before but it is up to you to communicate your branding guidelines to them clearly in order to get the exact consistency, feel and tone you want across your entire website. In case you have no prior experience with branding guidelines, you can communicate your ideas to your designer and work with them to come up with something unique.
